Description
Popular traditional Edo Kiriko patterns are chrysanthemums, hemp leaves, bamboo leaves, and cloisonne patterns.
This is an Edo Kiriko Pair Glass with Star Anise and Chrysanthemum Connection patterns. It has trihexagonal tiling called “kagome,” a pattern based on the particular shape of stitches obtained by weaving a bamboo basket and very fine chrysanthemum connections. The kagome pattern is known to protect the user from demons and bad luck, whereas the chrysanthemum is a symbol of longevity and nobility in Japan.
